It\u2019s exceedingly easy and uses raisins to enhance the natural sweetness of the main ingredient. I have formulated the recipe to use frozen fruit, since it&#8217;s so convenient to keep on hand, but you could certainly use fresh fruit too!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>This recipe was originally published on my other blog, <a href=\"https:\/\/pragmaticcooking.com\/index.php\/2020\/07\/29\/100-fruit-compote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pragmatic Cooking<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><br \/><em>Makes around 2 cups<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>1 1\/2 lbs frozen berries <\/li>\r\n<li>Small handful raisins (2-3 Tbsp)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Put the frozen fruit in a small sauce pan over medium heat. While the fruit is thawing, mince the raisins. Add the raisins to the fruit.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>When the fruit has softened and has liquid around it, bring to mixture to a simmer. Cook for about 20 minutes, or until fruit just starts to lose its structure and the liquid thickens slightly.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Remove from heat and either serve the fruit compote immediately or cool it completely and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to several days.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Compote&#8211;a dish of stewed fruit&#8211;is great with things like low-fat yogurt, pancakes, waffles, etc. This version of fruit compote, is 100% fruit and eschews the traditional sugar syrup.
